A nation should require all of its students to study the same national curriculum until they enter college. [AGREE]

Curriculam is a planned interaction of pupils with instructional content, material, resources and processes for evaluating the attainment of educational objectives. As stated by Nelson Mandela "Education is a powerful tool which you could use to change the world." Education is a bedrock of social and economic development.it is very important to form a strong base for children in formative years so they are not only successful in personal fromt but also turn out to be a good citizen. Hence education curriculum stands of utmost importance and should be carefully chosen inorder to fulfill all these requirements. I believe that curriculum being followed should be similar but shools should have some flexibility to introduce or change it to a certain extent.

Introducing a uniform curriculum is beneficial in many ways. As we know massive production brought about by the same mould reduces the cost of production, increases the productivity and product effeciency. Hence, providing children of different schools with same curriculum would aid in the reduction of the nation's effort in evaluation of different curriculums and hence result in low cost spend in deciding different curriculums. Obviously if different schools or colleges follow different curriculum then nation has to render complex evaluative schemes to assess and comare the knowledge base and talent of different students in different schools. This tedious task can be avoided by following same curriculum. Moreover, following same curriculum can lead to massive production of the required books, teaching facilities and even the extra training for corresponding teacher, which certainly reduce the cost of education.

Considering the students perspective same curriculum leads to stable and universal learning. There are many students who attended many school due to certains reasons like their father have a transferable job. If multiple curriculums are included in education system, it would be tedious for those student to cope up with the new challenges like unfamiliar coursework etc. Thus putting the children at a great disadvantage. Thus, is crutial to have same curriculum for the students.

According to competition perspective, curriculum aids to competition too. Inorder to find a place in society the students have to compete with each other. Therefore, uniformity is required which could lead to a fair competition.Generally for getting a seat in any college, student has to give an entrance examination. This examination is based on the knowledge acquired by the student till now. If there is a variation in curriculum the entrance test might not be considered as fair. As it could benefit one student and even deter another student. Hence uniformity is very important.

For overall development of students as well as maintaining uniformity in curriculum is prominent. At the same time schools should be flexible enough to make certain changes that arouse intrest of students in education as well as benefit them in all aspect.

Claim: Governments must ensure that their major cities receive the financial support they need in order to thrive. Reason: It is primarily in cities that a nation's cultural traditions are preserved and generated. [DIS-AGREE]

Cultural heritage is a legacy of physical artefacts and intangible attribute of a group of society that are generated from past generation, maintained in the present and bestowed for the benefit of the future generation. Historically, certain cities rose to prominence over the other of same nation primarily for their historical and cultural legacy. Thinking alone of the major cities to preserve cultural heritage is wrong on the writer's part. The support to culture protection should be a bilateral mechanism including major cities and small villages. The authors point is weakened as the cities have a critical role to play in preservation of the ethos. At the same time government cannot be absolved of its responsibility simply by focussing on majorr cities.

Their is no doubt that major cities are the principal hub when constructing a healthy country. Their development directly reflect the develeopment of the country. However it is towns and villages where culture is preserverd and nourished and the government that pays attention to its cultural tradition should not neglect or ignore those places. Hence all place should receive equal financial support as major cities.the culture and tradition maintained in these places might be much more integrated and purer than in its counterpart cities. Thus the governmentshould support these towns and villages, which have little traditional foundation.

For instance, Hong Kong which was a small fishing village aroung 130 years ago. After it was colonised by britain, hong Kong became developed gradually and has established as a finacial center in entire Asian region. Therefore, no one can assert that Chinese cultural tradition are generated in HOng Kong. It developed completely according to the capitalism country, during the reign of Britain, although the majority of residence were chinese, who are known for preserving their culture and tradition. However, Chinese culture was not preserved in Hong Kong, hence their is no point in provoding financial support to Hong Kong just for culture sake.Hong Kong is one of the largest business hub in complete Asia. it attracts many people from all over the world and is a great source of revenue for the government.

Secondly i want to quote an instance that major cities are prone to new technologies and culture. Hence culture for major cities keeps changing every decade. Major cities are highly influence by western culture. So it is improper to give prominence to only major cities over small towns and village for preserving culture. Small town and village are least persuaded by western culture and their is high chance to preserve culture here than in any other major cities.

Culture and tradition are the backbone of nation and they should be preserved. Major cities act as a market place for culture and tradition while small towns and cities preserve actual culture and tradition. It would be essential to nurture the source for the culture stream to be long and mellifluous. Hence major cities, small towns should get equal attention from the government.

Scandals are useful because they focus our attention on problems in ways that no speaker or reformer ever could. [AGREE]

Scandal is a widely publicized allegation or a set of allegation that damage the reputation of an institution, individual or creed. Scandals can attain resurrection in a fraction of time, sometime it reveals truth that no  body expected and anticipated in life. People in this modern era are so busy that they don't have time to pay attention to problem not related to their personal life, until it comes as a scandal.

Scandals can reveal shocking truth about an individual or a company. For instance everyone knows about IPL (Indian premier league), one of the most renowned form of cricket. Many business magnet and wealthy people make teams by buying several players around the world to play this form of cricket. But recent results broached by CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) of India were shocking and horrifying. Many  renowned  people who were a role model for several individuals were involved in betting which had a peculiar impact on aficionado of that person. These Scandals showed the real picture which was murkier before scandals. This revelation of act helped people to know the real truth about them.

It is a well known truth that what scandals can do others cannot do it. For instance take case of politicians of India. Everyone is aware of the recent catastrophe that has hit north state of India which revealed a horrifying truth. That state was a pilgrim and annually thousand of people come to temples for "darshan". More than 4000 people died in this  catastrophe which had a deep impact on society. In the aftermath of the investigation it was found that politicians were solely responsible for this massacre. According to weather and forecast report, they knew that the  catastrophe was going to happen. They declared advent of the  catastrophe and gave this information to political leaders. Those leader convened a meeting with central government and finally came to conclusion that funds should be given in order to protect from this massacre by building a bulwark. Police sources alleged that these funds were digested by several politician which lead to this massacre and consumed thousands of lives. People were shocked that even chief minister of state is one of them who was responsible for this massacre. This scandal opened the eyes of people against the crime.

When problems take shape of scandal there are more people involved and affected by it. People have to be aware of the on going events and take necessary steps to curb mis-happening. To find the solution of a particular problem it is necessary to know the reason as well as its effect.

From the above examples we can conclude that scandals play an important role in teaching people about the changing world. People who never anticipated that their role models were nothing more than a conceit. Above examples show that scandals focuses our attention to the problem in a way that no speaker or reformer ever could.

Educational institutions have a responsibility to dissuade students from pursuing fields of study in which they are unlikely to succeed. [AGREE]

“Education” in general sense is a form of learning in which knowledge, skills and habits of a group of people are transferred from one generation to other through teaching. According to Albert Einstein “All that is valuable in human society depends on opportunity of development accorded by an individual”. Good formal educations form a building block in a person’s successful career. It hones the skill which an individual has in his field of study. Educational institutions are like potter which carves beautiful artifacts out of raw clay. And hence lays with them the responsibility to orient the individual in its area of interest.

With the increasing industrialization and globalization, new fields have emerged which in turn gives more career options.  But increasing options for careers has led to the creation of dilemma in an individual’s mind on what to choose for them. Here comes the role of educational institution. They should make lucid all the aspects of a particular field that an individual is interested in so that they can devote all their attention to the same. Proper guidance and channelized efforts will lead to effective results.

Educational institution has to play a vital role in shaping an individual’s future. Academic interest of students of an institution may not be coherent with others. Few may have caliber in research, few may be interested in arts or teaching or engineering. Thus it is quite important to nurture them in the field in which they have an interest. Though it might sound like a colossal venture, these academic shades might be more perspicuous through a small project, through a group activity, a presentation by students or interacting with the students, like a class room meant to enhance the knowledge of a student. An interactive session may dissuade a student from choosing a wrong field.

The ultimate goal of education is to help individuals to contribute to the welfare of people, to the society, to the environment and to the world. If an educational institutions help individual to decide on which field to choose in which they can fare well, imagine the contribution and success of the nation in all aspects. For instance a well-known scientist THOMAS ALVA EDISON was a school dropout, who was accused of addled. He was schooled at home. Due to his utter interest he became the great inventor of all time. Similar example can be quoted for STEVE JOBS Apple CEO, who was a college dropout. Both of them came to the horizon with dedicated efforts and persistent hard work.

From the above point we can conclude that educational institutes can dissuade students from choosing those fields in which they are unlikely to succeed. It is apparent that a long term benefit is awarded for the hard work done. This step would lead to an overall development of an individual. It is a social and moral responsibility of an institution to guide individual to the right path which could benefit people, society, environment and overall world.

To understand the most important characteristics of a society, one must study its major cities. [AGREE]

In the view of sociologist the term society means humane, architectonic, aesthetic and communicational aspects of people living together in the same region in its era, and society could persists from generation to generation based on its custom rules, regulation and sameness of expectation.

According to Maccaus Tulett a famous sociologist in its first book “Human civilization and society” stated that studying society to uncover its sense in its era is a long journey. For instance major cities are the society’s gateway for outside world.  New traditions, fashion, styles first establish in big cities and then infiltrated into other areas. For example – Colombo is the economic hub of SriLanka. Many business, industries, offices, government institutions are located here. Most people living here are not land owners but tenants. They spend a whole different lifestyle which is a combination of western and eastern style. While their neighbors living 100 km away from them live a simple and traditional lifestyle. So if one comes to a conclusion that studying major cities will lead to a deviation of truth.

Major cities could not draw any quintessence of nearby region. According to Laccura, a professional sociologist states that during the process of selective absorbing social aspects outside the cities such as architecture or art. The urban cities might ignore such certain typical characteristics and remaining only what is considered as sophisticated and satisfied to the taste of people in noble or higher society. The study of society should start from Mirco elements: the family, how family fit together, their interactions with each other. But in big cities interactions are vague between parents and children. In a city religious activities are more economized. Best example would be the way in which Christmas is celebrated in big cities and in rural church.

In conclusion, it is clear that studying major cities only doesn’t help us to find important characteristics. These days’ cities are a mixture of people with different language, caste and thoughts and each of them belonging to a specific society. Ultimately there are better ways rather than major cities that help sociologists to discover the most important characteristics of the society.

Lonely Feeling

The day went dry, the night went scary,
The world full of allegory, feels like chary

Lonely thoughts and dreams like marrow,
Eyes filled with tears, dipicting sorrow

I wanted to scream, I wanted to cry,
But had a fake smile, showing spry

I did my best to be a part of the world,
But every time i failed and swirled.

Mixed Feelings

A special trust between you and me
A special bond that no one can see

A special feeling that makes me real
A special path that lookes so ideal

As wraped by love that ehsrouds us all
Mattered heart that makes a call

Your presence is as precious as gold
Gently cuddling neck to fold

Like a silken thread that holds us fast
Bonds like this are meant to last

As many times these thread may break
A new one forms in its wake

To bind us closer and keep us strong
In a special world, where we belong.
